It’s hard enough to get gifts for a lot of people but if it’s for a friend or a relative who seems to have everything, especially one that’s in their 70’s, because he simply may be happy with what he’s got, becomes really a difficult task. So how can you get someone like this a gift. You know you want to still get them something, especially if it’s your father, so what do you?

Well, you could find out what his hobbies and personal interests are if you don’t already know that. A lot of older men spend a lot of time doing things they love to do. Things that help keep their minds to stay young and keep themselves from getting too bored. So a good gift might be something that has to do with that interest or hobby he might have and it will also indicate that you support him in his interests. For instance if he loves sitting and listening to his favorite music, why not get him a nice pair of headphones that reduce all of the outside noise so he can enjoy his music even more. Any item that can be used when he does his favorite thing is going to be much appreciated.

If you’ve got the money, consider giving a gift of travel. Even if you don’t have the money yourself, if this is your father or another close relative, get together with the other relatives and see if they can’t pitch in for this gift. You could make it a gift to a place that he loves going to or it could be to someplace that he has never been to but always dreamed of going to. You could also give him a short getaway to a nice hotel or get him a golfing package if he’s a big golfer. However, make sure that no matter what the travel trip is that he’s able to go and do something like this. Also don’t forget maybe a few days in a private cabin in the mountains nearby could also be a great travel gift.

Clothes can always be a good gift to give any man in his 70’s. A lot of men in this age category rarely buy themselves any new clothes. So this might be a good gift to give by getting him a nice pair of pants and a shirt, perhaps a new suit for church if he goes to church. Get him some casual clothes for every day use or even possibly get him a pair of pajamas. Make sure of course you know his correct size before going out to do this, you don’t want him to have to go and take the items back, which he might not do and the clothes will just sit there.

You can always rely on music, movies and books to be good gifts for men of this age. If he likes music the most them go out and buy him a series of CD’s from his era that might include big band music to rock and roll of the 50’s and 60’s. Or if there is a certain genre of movies that he enjoys, then why not get him several different movies in that favorite genre. Also find out what kinds of topics he loves to read about and get him some books and or magazines in the topics he enjoys.
